What's the point?

I just wanted to clue everyone in to what they can expect from this race and why we are throwing it together. Basically, we've been inspired by the likes of events such as Wilson's Fat Tire Festival, Cruise the Blues, etc. We also happen to think Heartland's 'get back to the roots' Dirt Lovin' Good Times rides are a great idea. But, let's face it, we all like a little competition.

Please be assured we are NOT skimping on this one. We want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. We are hard at work grooming the trails, making sure it will be superbly marked, and putting together a volunteer crew that will make sure this race does not disappoint. Not to mention there is guaranteed cash'ola for experts and sweet gear for those that throw down the top three fastest times in their respective class. But, most importantly the goal of this event is for everyone to have fun riding their bike. For most of us, it's not about earning back gas and dinner $$, or winning those sweet Ergon grips (although that would be nice!). It's about finding a reason to hang out with all those other crazy people that like riding their mtb in 100 degree weather, spotting that guy (or gal!) 20 seconds up the trail and pushing yourself to the max, or just trying to figure out how to not fall over in your clipless pedals.

So, don't expect tons of SWAG, free giveaways, or a high end production like you would get from the Heartland boys. (Let's face it, they're good) But, what you can expect is a good time with good friends. If that's why you started riding a bike in the first place, then by all means join us.

P.S. I still feel the need to apologize to all you one geared maniacs out there. This course will be difficult to gear up for. The trail is tight and twisty with short n' steep climbs, but the 2 miles of gravel will be gentle rollers. I don't want to discourage you from coming, I just want you to be fully prepared for what to expect. But, there is a SS class, so you can all be spun out together!

And for anyone wanting to come down and check out the course just let me know. There is almost always someone riding the trail. Right now it would be beneficial to have a local show you the flow of the course.

So, make no excuses and come down for a good time!
